This is the most common measurement.
Typical lengths:
4"–6" → tight spaces, plumbing, PVC
9" → demolition, wood with nails
12" → pruning, deep cuts
18" → large demolition jobs
Longer blade = deeper reach but more flex. Shorter blade = more control and faster cutting.
TPI determines cutting speed and material type.
3–6 TPI → fast cuts in wood, demolition
6–10 TPI → wood with nails, general purpose
10–14 TPI → metal, EMT, conduit
14–24 TPI → thin metal, stainless
Carbide tooth → cast iron, hardened steel
Low TPI = fast, rough cuts High TPI = slow, smooth cuts
Measured in thousandths of an inch.
0.035" (standard) → flexible, general use
0.042" (heavy‑duty) → stronger, less bending
0.050"–0.062" (demolition) → maximum durability
Thicker blades resist bending and last longer.
Wider blades:
Stay straighter
Better for demolition and plunge cuts
Narrow blades:
More flexible
Better for curved cuts or tight spaces
Not a measurement, but always listed with the specs:
Bi‑Metal → general purpose
Carbide‑Tipped → cast iron, stainless, hardened steel
Diamond‑Grit → tile, masonry, fiberglass
Length = reach
TPI = what material it cuts
Thickness = durability
Width = stability
Material = performance level
