1. WHAT THEY ARE
Concrete screws = hardened, high‑strength screws designed to cut threads directly into concrete, brick, or block. No anchor needed.
Common brands: Tapcon, ITW Red Head, Grip‑Rite, BuildRight, Powers.
2. SIZES (MOST COMMON IN NYC JOBS)
Diameter and Typical Use:
- 3/16": Light duty (clips, brackets, small fixtures)
- 1/4": Medium duty (shelves, rails, plates)
- 5/16": Heavy duty (structural plates, machinery)
- 3/8": Very heavy duty (less common in retail)

3. DRILL BIT SIZE (CRITICAL)
Screw Diameter and Required Bit:
- 3/16" screw: 5/32" carbide bit
- 1/4" screw: 3/16" carbide bit
- 5/16" screw: 1/4" carbide bit
Rule: Hole must be 1/4" deeper than screw embedment.
4. EMBEDMENT DEPTH (MINIMUM)
Screw Size and Minimum Embedment:

Do NOT over‑embed — screws will snap.
5. HEAD TYPES
Head and Use:
- Hex head: Strongest grip, outdoor, metal plates

8. INSTALLATION STEPS (STAFF CARD)
- Drill correct hole with carbide masonry bit
- Blow out dust (critical)
- Drive screw with impact or drill
- Stop when snug — do not over‑torque
